Case Study: Solving a Blocked Stormwater Line for Henry in Tighes Hill

Introduction:

Henry, a resident of Tighes Hill (2297), recently found himself with a blocked stormwater line. After searching online, he came across Reactive Plumbing & Electrical through our Google My Business ad.

The Assigned Technician:

Tarin, one of our experienced service technicians, was assigned to the job. With years of experience and expertise in plumbing and electrical services, Tarin was the perfect fit for this particular job.

The Job Description & Solution:

Upon arrival at Henry’s property, Tarin conducted an investigation and found that the downpipe outlet had been previously exposed to soil and roots. This resulted in the stormwater line being completely blocked.

To solve this issue, we used jet blasting to clear out the blockage. However, during this process we discovered that the stormwater downpipe led to a clay line which most likely connected to an old failed rubble pit. We were unable to get visual confirmation on this as it was located about 1-2 meters away from where we were jetting.

We then proceeded with CCTV inspection of all downpipes and found that there was a recently installed rubble pit in a carport area on the other side of the house. The age and size of this pit were unknown but it appeared to be approximately 10-12 meters away from where we had jetted downpipe.

The entry point into the rubble pit from PVC downpipe was also quite deep under grass at around 300-360mm deep.
