The Assigned Technician: Brooke
Brooke, one of our top service technicians, was assigned to the job due to her expertise in handling complex plumbing issues. With years of experience under her belt, she was well-equipped to tackle this challenging task.
The Job Description & Solution
Upon arrival at John’s property, Brooke conducted a thorough investigation and found that several areas of the back yard and undercover areas were flooding during rain. To address this issue, she carried out our $149 blocked drain special which includes locating the stormwater drain lines and restoring flow.
CCTV inspection revealed that there were several sections of the stormwater pipe filled with excessive amounts of rock and debris causing blockages. Additionally, there were also some back-falling sections which further complicated the situation.
To clear these blockages, Brooke jet blasted through several stormwater inlets and strip drains but unfortunately was unsuccessful due to limited access to the line and poor condition of the pipe. She then provided an option for a continuation jet blast ($440 Inc GST) but it too proved ineffective against the stubborn rocks and debris.
In order to fully resolve John’s flooding issues, Brooke proposed cutting open a section of concrete using specialized equipment to access an affected area of stormwater pipe. This would allow for continued jet blasting as well as repair work on damaged sections of pipework. She also suggested raising inspection openings to ground level for easier access in the future and reinstating concrete in plain grey.
Furthermore, Brooke recommended installing a new downpipe connection in a specified location to alleviate the excessive amounts of water overflowing from the gutter shrouded in pergola area. The new downpipe would discharge to the top of strip drain on the right-hand side for better drainage.
The jet blasting would continue once access to the line was created, with the aim of removing all rocks and debris from the stormwater service. John was informed that while this solution would address his flooding issues in the
