Case Study: Solving Water Ingress and Flooding Issues in Cameron Park
Beer, a resident of Cameron Park (2285), was facing a major problem with water ingress and flooding at the side and back of his house. This issue had caused damage to his property and even resulted in land subsidence. Desperate for a solution, Beer turned to Reactive Plumbing & Electrical after finding us through our Newcastle Magnet ad.
The Assigned Technician: Blake
Upon receiving Beer’s call, we immediately assigned our top service technician, Blake, to handle the job. With years of experience under his belt and extensive knowledge in plumbing solutions, we knew that Blake would be able to provide an effective solution for Beer’s problem.
The Job Description & Solution
After conducting a thorough inspection of Beer’s property, Blake identified that the main cause of the water ingress was due to poor subsoil drainage. To solve this issue, he presented two options to Beer – option A being subsoil drainage works.
In option A, Reactive Plumbing & Electrical proposed the following solution:
- Excavate a trench from the back of the house to the top of driveway;
- Remove soil/grass from site via skip bin; trench width will be 500mm wide at house and 300-400mm wide next to driveway;
- Supply and install two new 450mm pits and secure them in position;
- Lay multiple lines of perforated “ag” drain which will discharge into pits;
- All pit outlets will then discharge into stormwater services;
- To ensure proper drainage flow without any blockages, specialised Geotech fabric and Bluemetal/recycled concrete will be used to backfill the trench;
- Once the works are completed, new grass will be supplied and installed; and
- The work area will be thoroughly cleaned.
In addition to this solution, Reactive Plumbing & Electrical also proposed an additional service of pumping out, draining, and moving Beer’s water tank from his slab. This would involve:
- Disconnecting, draining, and isolating the water tank;
