The Job Description & Solution:
Ian explained to Nathan that he suspected there was a leak somewhere in his domestic cold water supply line. To confirm this suspicion, Nathan conducted nitrogen induction into the line which revealed that there indeed was a concealed leak on the main branch. This type of leak is often undetected by eye and requires specialized equipment to locate.
To solve this issue, Nathan recommended repairing the domestic cold water supply line with appropriate fittings that comply with current municipal and national regulations. The repair also included installing a pressure regulating device in front of the meter to regulate any fluctuations in pressure and reduce general plumbing wear. This would ensure long-term stability for Ian’s plumbing system.
Note: As per Australian standards, we commissioned the unit at 500 kPa after conducting a pressure test prior to concealment to ensure no other leaks existed in the main water supply.
