Hello, my name is Phill and I live in the suburb of Broadmeadow (2292). Recently, I encountered an issue with my shower drain being blocked. After trying to fix it myself without success, I decided to seek professional help. That’s when I found Reactive Plumbing & Electrical through their Online Booking ad.
Assigned Technician: Theran
I was assigned Theran as my service technician for this job. His expertise and experience in plumbing made him the perfect candidate for resolving my blocked shower drain issue.
The Job Description & Solution
Upon arrival, Theran investigated the blocked drain affecting only my shower. He removed the shower and floor waste covers and discovered that there was builders waste jammed inside the floor drain causing the blockage.
To resolve this issue, he cleared out the blockage from the shower to floor drain. This resulted in my shower now effectively draining again.
However, during his inspection of the bathroom’s floor drain, Theran noticed that it was a boss gully instead of a standard floor waste gully. This meant that there was an internal trap seal installed incorrectly which was emitting sewer gases into my bathroom.
This incorrect installation could not be fixed as there were builders rubble underneath it which couldn’t be removed due to its larger size compared to tile opening.
Solution:
- The surrounding tiles around the floor drain needed to be removed
- The tile insert had to be taken out so that it could be cleared of any builders rubble before reinstallation
- The internal trap seal needed to be reinstalled correctly
- Finally, the tiles were reinstated for a complete fix.
