Sonu, a resident of Charlestown (2290), recently contacted Reactive Plumbing & Electrical after noticing a leak coming from their hot water system. They found us through our Newcastle Magnet ad and were impressed by our range of plumbing services.

The Job Description:
Upon arrival at Sonu’s property, Theran conducted a thorough inspection of the concealed hot water system located in the cupboard above their coolroom. The client had reported that there was a constant leak coming from this area, causing concern for potential damage to their property.
After further investigation, it was discovered that the hot water system was 9 years old and had ruptured. This type of system is known as a triple element commercial water heater and requires specialized knowledge to repair or replace.
The Solution:
Theran presented Sonu with various options for replacing the faulty hot water system. One option included installing a safe waste tray and leak protection valve as per AS3500.4 standards to prevent future leaks and potential damage.
However, after discussing these options with Sonu, they decided to only isolate the hot water supply instead of replacing the entire system at this time. To do so, Theran capped off the failing duo valve and isolated both the water supply going into and out of the system. He also ensured that power supply to the unit was switched off at its designated switch nearby.
With this solution implemented, Sonu could still have access to cold running water while avoiding any further leakage or damage caused by using their faulty hot water system.
