The Job Description & Solution:
Upon arrival at Jeremy’s home, Matt conducted a thorough inspection and found that there was indeed a leak present. However, it proved difficult to locate as it could only be heard running underneath the slab for the extension and was thought to be under the tiles in the hallway.
Matt suggested inducing nitrogen into the domestic cold water supply line to help pinpoint the exact location of the leak. Unfortunately, this method did not yield any results. After careful consideration, Matt advised against drilling holes into the slab as it posed a high risk of water ingress and damage to other areas of Jeremy’s home.
In order to effectively address this issue without causing further damage or risking potential leaks in other areas of Jeremy’s home, Matt recommended conducting an exploratory dig on one side of his property. This would allow them to either cap off or install ball valves which would essentially eliminate multiple fixtures connected to that particular line. Once this step is completed successfully, options for rerouting can be discussed with additional costs involved.
