Case Study: Solving Noisy Toilets for Matt in Bonnells Bay

Introduction:
Matt, a resident of Bonnells Bay (2264), recently contacted Reactive Plumbing & Electrical after experiencing issues with his toilets. He found us through our Online Booking ad and reached out to us for help.

Assigned Technician:
Our service technician Zach was assigned to the job due to his expertise in plumbing and experience in handling similar cases.

The Problem:
Matt’s two toilets were making noise intermittently, but the issue seemed to be happening more frequently. Upon arrival, Zach conducted an investigation and found that both toilet suites were approximately 10 years old and had internal mechanisms that had reached the end of their life expectancy. There was also a large buildup of debris and rust on the inlet valve flexi hoses, as well as plastic interior components perishing.

Furthermore, vital plumbing testing revealed that the water pressure at Matt’s home was at 400kpa, which is higher than the recommended level by Australian Plumbing Standards. Although there was a pressure reduction valve installed at the water meter, it wasn’t enough to prevent damage to older plumbing fixtures like Matt’s toilet suites.

The Solution:
Given the age and condition of Matt’s toilet suites and his plans on moving within 2-5 years, Zach provided him with various servicing options. These ranged from complete cistern overhauls to minor cistern servicing.

After careful consideration, Matt decided to proceed with option (b) – 2x toilet major service along with a 1-year VIP maintenance agreement. This included isolating water supply, replacing both filling and flushing valves, isolation valve replacement along with fixing kit installation for inlet valves – all covered under a comprehensive 5-year warranty period.

The usual cost for each toilet service would have been $902 Inc GST, but with the membership discount and other applicable discounts, Matt was able to save a total of $203.
