Case Study: Resolving a Blocked Drain for Kay in Labrador
Kay, a resident of the suburb of Labrador (4215), was facing a major inconvenience when her toilet suddenly became blocked. She tried to fix it herself but was unsuccessful and decided to seek professional help.
Finding Us Through Gold Coast Magnet Ad
Kay came across Reactive Plumbing & Electrical through our advertisement in the local Gold Coast Magnet. Impressed by our services, she gave us a call and explained her situation.
Assigning Josh as the Service Technician
We quickly assessed Kay’s issue and assigned our experienced service technician, Josh, to handle the job. With his expertise in plumbing and drainage systems, we were confident that he would be able to resolve the problem efficiently.
The Job Description & Solution
Upon arrival at Kay’s residence, Josh carried out an initial inspection and found that there was no blockage on the main line. However, upon further investigation with a camera inspection, he discovered that only the toilet branch line was affected.
To access and clear this blockage effectively, we provided Kay with two options – either create an opening or excavate outside of the toilet area. After discussing both options with her, she opted for excavation works which included:
- Cutting a section of concrete outside of the toilet area (approx 1m2)
- Hand excavating to expose 100mm PVC toilet branch line
- Cutting into pipework to release blockage
- If necessary, carrying out high pressure water jet blast
- Conducting CCTV drain inspection to inspect cause of blockage and pipework under the house slab
- Making necessary repairs to pipework and installing directional IO’s brought to the surface
- Backfilling pipework using drainage gravel and reinstating concrete
Please note – we have advised Kay that we cannot guarantee exposing the exact location of the issue as we do not have camera access until excavation works are completed. Further quoting may be required if there is damage to the pipework under the house slab.
