Doreen, a resident of Blackalls Park (2283), was facing an urgent plumbing issue. She had noticed water leaking from underneath her home and immediately knew she needed professional help. The Job Description and Solution
Doreen explained that the leak seemed to be coming from near her water heater. Upon further investigation, Theran found that a copper water line connected to the hot outlet of Doreen’s system had separated, causing a substantial leak. To prevent any further damage or potential hazards, Doreen had isolated the system at its isolation valve.
However, upon closer inspection, it was discovered that this valve was also leaking onto the ground. This raised concerns as Doreen’s system had been installed in 2019 without a tempering valve – making it non-compliant with safety standards as it delivered water above 50 degrees Celsius.
To ensure Doreen’s safety and comply with regulations, Theran recommended installing a tempering valve on her system to prevent scalding accidents. Additionally, he conducted a pressure test on the water supply to Doreen’s home and found it to be excessively high at 600kpa.
In light of these findings and after presenting all available options, Doreen decided to go ahead with the pipe repair and also signed up for our VIP membership. Theran promptly cut out the affected pipework and replaced it with new copper pipes and fittings. He then reinstated the water supply and conducted thorough testing to ensure everything was in working order.
