Case Study: Solving Leaks and Plumbing Issues for Stephen in Blackalls Park

The Job Description & Solution
Stephen’s main concern was that his two upstairs toilets were leaking into the bowl, causing water wastage and potential damage to his property. Additionally, there was a leak coming from his shower into the hallway which was affecting the floorboards.
To address these issues, I conducted a pressure test on the pipework between the mixer tap and showerhead. This revealed that there was a leak coming from the shower mixer cartridge. After presenting Stephen with different repair options, he decided to go with our discounted bundle offer which included servicing both toilets as well as replacing the shower mixer cartridge.
I started by replacing both fill and flush valves in each toilet along with their buttons. The cistern-to-pan gasket also needed replacement so I took care of that as well. To ensure proper functioning of both toilets, I set their fill and flush levels accordingly.
Moving on to addressing the issue with his shower leak, upon removing its hardware it became apparent that there was no seal around its penetration point allowing water from the leaking cartridge to seep into the wall. I replaced the shower mixer cartridge and sealed around the tap penetration to prevent any future leaks.
After completing all necessary repairs, I conducted another pressure test on the pipework and found that it was holding up well with no further leaks between the showerhead and mixer. Stephen was pleased with our work and we provided him with warranties for each of the services rendered – 2 years for fill and flush valves, 5 years for stop tap and flexible connection, and 1 year for the shower mixer cartridge.
