Case Study: Solving a Shower Leak for Emmanuel in Charlestown

The Job Description & Solution
Upon arrival at Emmanuel’s home, Theran conducted a thorough investigation of the leak. The client had already cut an access hole underneath the shower waste outlet, which made it easier for Theran to conduct his tests.
To start off, he conducted a pressure test on the tapware combination and found that there were no leaks present. This indicated that the tapware and pipework leading up to the showerhead were not causing the issue.
Next, Theran removed the tap cover and discovered that there was no sealant around the tap penetrations. He quickly sealed these areas to prevent any further leakage.
In order to fully test if there were any other potential sources of leakage, Theran turned on the showerhead for 10 minutes while directing it only over the waste connection. No leaks were detected during this test.
To ensure that all possible scenarios were covered, he also ran water over walls of shower enclosure for another 10 minutes but still did not find any evidence of leakage.
No Leak Detected During Investigations
As Emmanuel had mentioned that he hadn’t used his shower in months before noticing this leak, Theran advised him to start using it regularly and to contact Reactive Plumbing & Electrical immediately if the leak becomes evident again.
