The Job Description and Solution:
Upon arrival at Jon’s property, Nicholas conducted an initial inspection and discovered that the toilet was holding enough water to indicate a blockage. To further investigate the issue, he proceeded with a CCTV inspection and found several root intrusions within the pipe.
After discussing the options with Jon, it was decided that our 440 extensive jet blast service would be the best solution to clear out the roots from the pipe. However, before commencing work, we informed Jon about potential risks such as pipe collapse or movement during this process.
Unfortunately, during the jet blasting process, an existing terracotta lid fell into the pipe and became stuck due to the roots being cut out. This caused another blockage in the drain which required excavation for repair.
The scope of works included excavating a marked area on Jon’s property and exposing a two-meter-wide section. We then cut out this section and replaced it with PVC piping while also adding a new inspection opening for future inspections. Additionally, we installed a junction line leading under decking for any future works that may be needed.
To ensure compliance with plumbing standards, we concreted all connections between PVC pipes and used blue metal to support them. We also restored a 150 mm stormwater line directly above sewer which had been previously cut out during the excavation process. Finally, we dispersed all the dirt across Jon’s front yard.
