The Assigned Technician: Theran
We assigned Theran as the service technician for this job due to his extensive experience and expertise in handling hot water system issues. He has been with Reactive Plumbing & Electrical for over 5 years and has successfully resolved numerous similar cases.
The Job Description & Solution
Upon arrival at Elise’s home, Theran was briefed on the situation by Elise. The hot water system was not heating up despite being turned on. After conducting some diagnostic tests, it was determined that there were multiple factors contributing to this issue.
- The pilot light of the water heater needed to be relit.
- The operating gas pressure was measured and found to be correct.
- The water pressure in the home was excessive at 1000kpa.
- No 500kpa pressure regulating valve was installed at the water heater.
- As the system began heating up, it became apparent that there was an internal leak causing the pilot light to extinguish.
To solve these issues, Theran presented Elise with two options:
- Replacement of the entire hot water system along with installation of a 500kpa pressure regulating valve on the cold supply pipe of her home; or
- Replacement of the faulty parts and installation of a 500kpa pressure regulating valve on the cold supply pipe.
After discussing the pros and cons of each option, Elise decided to go with the first option as it would provide a long-term solution for her hot water system issues. Theran promptly got to work and completed the job within a few hours.
