The Job Description & Solution
Jacquelyn had noticed water damage on her kitchen flooring and ceiling in the bedroom below. After speaking with her, we learned that this occurred during cyclone Alfred and she suspected it was related to the extreme weather event. As the water damage seemed intermittent but persistent, we conducted a thorough investigation using thermal imaging and CCTV cameras.
Our team discovered moisture present in the area through thermal imaging and confirmed it with thermal cameras. We also used an in-wall CCTV camera to inspect underneath the kitchen sink for any leaks from the dishwasher or supply lines. However, no leak was evident in this area after conducting flow and operational testing.
We then widened our search area to include the water supply line for Jacquelyn’s fridge. Upon removing the fridge, we found a leak on its inlet which required a specific LG brand technician or replacement of the entire unit. To prevent further damage, we isolated the water supply to mitigate any potential risks.
To ensure safety precautions were taken into consideration due to possible mould presence between floors, no invasive works were conducted at this stage.
All test results pointed to a concealed leak as the cause of water damage in Jacquelyn’s kitchen and bedroom. Our team provided her with a detailed report and recommendations for further action.
