Job Description & Solution

Upon arrival at John’s home, Theran investigated the shower taps and confirmed that they were indeed leaking. However, upon further inspection, he discovered that the root cause of the problem was actually excessive water pressure at 710kpa which was causing breakdowns in the tap washers.

To solve this issue, Theran presented two options to John – either repairing or replacing the tapware. After discussing both options with him, John agreed to have 1/4 turn wall taps installed along with a 500kpa pressure regulating valve at his water meter. This would not only fix the current issue but also prevent any future leaks due to high water pressure.

The first step in implementing this solution was isolating the water supply to John’s home. Then Theran cut into the pipework at the water meter and installed a pressure regulating valve before reconnecting everything. Next, he removed the shower tapware and installed a stainless steel seat on the cold side as the groove in the combination seat could not be refaced.

Finally, Theran supplied and installed 1/4 turn lever taps for John’s shower and sealed any tap penetrations to ensure there were no further leaks. As an added bonus, we also complimentary installed a sink mixer tap that John had purchased himself.
